I needed to close off an 11 foot segment of property where animals were getting through. I also wanted to soften the look of the electric post out front.

| how to build a pallet fence with gate |
Collecting a few good pallets from time to time as i drive by places is always a good thing to do. Some pallets are heavier duty than all can get out with 4X4 cross beams. The ones i used have 2X4 cross beams with slatted vertical pieces that are close together, so they look nice. They weren't the same pallet, but they looked close enough. And when it's all set up, it's hard to tell.
Here's the pictures below. For this pallet fence, i didn't want to look cheap like some in my neighborhood, so i started with concreting the 4X4 posts into the ground 20" on either side. This set my foundation. From these two posts i could build anything to them.
I purchased a single post from Home Depot and cut it in half. Along with purchasing some screws and a bag of concrete mix, the total on this project was around $30, because i had some hardware (door hinges and spray paint and paint rollers) lying around.
Notice the huge doorway pieces were also lying around, they are 2X10's i believe, and I dug them down about 20" each as well, followed by bolting them to the pallets, so they'd be extra sturdy. The whole thing does not shake.

The latch on the door is super cute i think. it's just a slide latch using an old handle from a piece of furniture.

The shingles are simply extra pallets that were cut right off the cross beams with my Dewalt circular saw. I cut them into 6 to 7" pieces and made three rows of them overlapping them to cover the screws as best i could. I topped it with a piece of 90 degree corner metal for drywall (about $6 at Ace Hardware) to help it last longer. I then sprayed the roof with a clear coat spray from Krylon to help it shed water and handle the sun. I first cut two pieces of 2X6 and made a roof angle and screwed this into the top of the pallet, then I cut a piece of plywood to lay over the 2X6 roof base. Then i could screw the shingles directly into the plywood. Yes this takes time. many shingles :)

The art installation at the top of the doorway in in reverence to a teacher who worked with sacred geometry to bring good energy to a place. So this stretch of backyard is greeted by the blessings from this install, the angel at the top of it (see the little metal pendant i nailed up), and some sage and blessings i hid underneath the install.
